Overview high Sensitivity C-reaktive Protein (hs-CRP) and Blood Pressure in Central Obesity
Abstract
Background: Central obesity is a condition characterized by excessive fat accumulation in the abdominal region, which is associated with an increased risk of cardiovascular disease through systemic inflammation and hemodynamic disturbances. Objective: This study aimed to describe high sensitivity C-Reactive Protein (hs-CRP) levels and blood pressure among housewives with central obesity in Dusun Bajang, Semen Village, Kediri Regency. Methods: This study used a descriptive cross-sectional design. A total of 25 respondents were selected using purposive sampling. hs-CRP levels were measured using the Wondfo FIA Meter Plus with fluorescence immunoassay, while blood pressure was measured using a digital sphygmomanometer. Results: The results showed that most respondents had high-risk hs-CRP levels (60%), followed by moderate risk (24%) and low risk (16%). Regarding blood pressure, some respondents were in the normal category; however, overall, the number of respondents with above-normal blood pressure was higher than those with normal values. These findings indicate an increased cardiovascular risk among respondents with central obesity. Conclusion: There is central obesity, increased hs-CRP levels, and elevated blood pressure, indicating the presence of inflammatory processes and hemodynamic disturbances. Therefore, early detection efforts, weight management, and the adoption of a healthy lifestyle are necessary to reduce the risk of cardiovascular disease
